Lochs & Legends
My new book Lochs & Legends, co-written with Andy the Highlander is now a Sunday Times Bestseller!
We invite you to travel in time in the footsteps of kings and queens, lairds and ladies, murderers, farmers, poets, invading armies, and everyday folk. Adventure through ancient sites, rugged glens and picturesque towns to celebrate the history, foklore and fascinating people that make Scotland so unique. It is Scotland as you’ve never seen it before.
Substack
I am slowly moving my core writing platform over to Substack. Signing up is free, and is always appreciated, but you can also hit "no thanks" to skip that prompt to read articles, interviews etc.
All regular blogs will be free, but at some point I will likely have my short stories on a subscription plan.
A Cat for the keeper
Welcome to the Scottish Isles at the turn of the century. A Cat for the Keeper was my first foray into fiction and is now available for free on my Substack or for download on Amazon. I hope you enjoy!
A Cat for the Keeper was inspired by a photograph of a 1920’s crofter from the M.E.M. Donaldson collection. The man sits with a peat cutter in his lap, kitten on his shoulder and a dog by his side. His identity isn’t known for sure, but he and his furry companions were the muses for this story, and a launching point for further photograph inspired short stories. If you liked this story, please do share, and stay tuned as I will be writing more in the future, exclusively on Substack!
